Poem
NO TIME FOR WAR
No time to question why,
no time it's the law,
no time for asking why,
no time for making war.
No time to ask ourself,
no time for second thoughts,
no time for guessing when,
count down's back to naught.
Once upon a time, a long time ago,
man stepped foot on the moon, did I read it
in the papers yes,
and I think I was still in school. I remembered
when the clocks stopped,
the whole world stood and cheered,
for the time it took to realise,
the work was back down here.
We pray for world peace,
but forget what went wrong on this land,
our thoughts lend to power
yet we forget our fellow man.
I see this world of ours
suffering to the strain, yet we send our space
ships high
but let our children starve in pain.
Yes we do pray for world peace,
but still wonder who'll make the first move, will
it take a long time to die
and will it come too soon. I remembered when
the first bomb dropped,
the whole world shed a tear, for the
time it took to realise,
This
song was writted by my sons David and Paul, help from their friend Jason, back in 1998. They were very young at the time around
14 and 16. I help them out on the backing and mix. It's the only song they ever did. I like it. The player below takes a little
time to load.
DREAMS? This is a bit of rubbish I wrote many years
ago, there's more but I didn't want to make you too ill. At the time of their conception I thought they were terrific, you
know, master compositions of some value, the ducks guts, the next top 40 hit, well guess what? just RUBBISH / CRAP!! believe me CRAP, they were copied
over to the computer from an old 4 track Tascam homestudio. Some songs later in the nineties involved my early MIDI hits
and miss mixes I recall I was so proud when I
wrote them, no loops or cut and paste back then, the drum track recorded first then the bass and so on, dubing over and over,
ping ping, but allas, still RUBBISH! no matter how
many takes, still CRAP Have
a listen to them, (no drugs involved - weired) Any normal person would be too ashame to upload these and to let a complete stranger hear them let alone a member of
his own family and friends, why? Getting old and grey and don't give a s*1t anymore.... What's
funny, as bad as they are I have still heard worse, isn't that weired, there's always someone's music worse than yours. I've
been totally suprised by the amount of downloads I have had with these songs on other music sites. Strange, listeners
will download absolute anything that's free, even RUBBISH and CRAP.
Ask the QuestionRecorded one weekend in the back room with the help of a few mates
and a few takes, drums had to be remixed using midi loops. Some vocals and samples found on the web mixed with the old mix
Ask The Question was written back in the early ninties. - what inspired the lyrics and the song construction would have to
be listining to Floyd one night. I appologise I was at a mates place one night, a muso
mate, couple of drinks, couple of cigerattes and Floyd playing on CD, we decided that night to see which one of us could write
a song simular to the style of Floyd, we gave ourself one week and met up the following Thursday. My version, I called it
Ask the Question, turned out crap but it was better than my mates, up yours Glenn. My ratings: backing track 4/10, vocals crap, lyrics 7/10, overall rating: 3/10
Bridge: HAS MAN AGED - WITH HIS OWN TEACHINGS HAVE WE FORGOTTEN OUR BEGINNING Ooh -THROUGH OUR PREACHINGS ARE ALL
THE SCRIPTURES MEARLY PHOTO COPIES HANDED DOWN THROUGHOUT ETERNITY WHEN ONLY AGE RESPECTFUL TO IT'S YEARS CAN PASS
BACK THROUGH THE HEAVENS FOR THE NEXT ETERNITY FOR THEY MUST ANSWER THE QUESTION
Butterfly Fly my LoveI was watching a talk back show on TV about these
two guys in Long Bay Jail here in Australia, they were talking about their new talents, talent learnt since there incarceration,
song writing of course. Songs about what they were going to do when they got home, a new life with their family. These lyrics
were written for those two blokes in prison. Never got to send. My ratings: vocals crap, backing track 4/10,
lyrics 7/10, overall 3/10
I LOOK BACK AT MY HOME FROM A DISTANCE HEAR THE CLATTER OF THE
TRACKS ABOVE MY BROKEN HEART I'M ON A TRAIN HEADING HOME BACK FROM NOWHERE TO A PLACE I LEFT MY LOVE I'M HOME AT LAST I
LOST A LIFE A CHILD A HOME AND A MARRIAGE SPENT THOSE YEARS BEHIND COLD BARS IN LONG BAY I
DID THE CRIME PAID THE TIME ASK FORGIVENESS AND WILL SHE TAKE ME BACK WHAT WILL SHE SAY Chorus... BUTTERFLY,
FLY MY LOVE AND TELL HER TELL HER I'M BACK AND DOWN ON BENDED KNEES BUTTERFLY, FLY MY LOVE AND TELL HER TELL HER I'M NOT THE MAN I USED TO BE
FootprintsThe lyrics were written around the
original Footprints In The Sand, composed by the Canadian poet Mary Stevenson, Mary was born November 8,1922 in the Philadelphia
suburb of Chester, PA. She had many brothers and sisters, but was still able to maintain her individuality and strong headedness.
This became even more difficult after the loss of her mother at age six, which forced her father to raise all eight children
by himself. Most of her childhood was spent during one of this Nation's toughest and mosttrying times, The Great Depression. I had to change the original lyrics to accomodate the music, about
20%, it was recorded also on a Tascam 4 track and burnt to CD a couple of years ago. My ratings: backing
track 1/10, vocals crap, lyrics 8/10, overall 3/10
Lyrics: One night I had a dream I was walking along the sands And across the sky flashed
scenes from my life and I was walking with God and holding hands
In each scene I noticed two sets of footprint some belonging
to me and one set God But many times along the paths of my life only one set could be see and that was odd
For when I noticed the missing set of footprints That
was the sadest times of my life For I have tried to live the life you've shown so why should
be left in my times of strife why should I be left in my times of strife
Make it like it wasWe'd go driving, and dining, making love on the way, she was
exciting, inviting, and always there.... Wrote in 1993, bit of midi and other stuff.
Lyrics had no meaning behind them, I think it was a movie I was watching at the time. My rating: the backing track is all right, but the vocals
suck, overall: 2 out of 10
Stand upOne of my early midi
and analogue combo attempts, song had no meaning for me at the time I wrote it but now I'm older and more wise? it comes clear
to me now. still no meaning.
COMPOSING TOOLS: ISIS - ALESIS SR-16

STAND UP KISS THE NIGHT THERE'S NOT ANOTHER SOLE IN SITE
Times are ChangingRecorded on a Tascam 4 track COMPOSING
TOOLS: ISIS - TASCAM - PEVEY Pro 2 - keyboard - guitar The lyrics originated when
jaming with a few mates many years ago in the back room, I had this little chord riff I was experimenting with (along with
other things of the seventies), we all joined in the jam and the lyrics came next. Bobby Dillon was one of the topics that
night. Now the lyrics must make a little sense. The song originally was recorded on
a Tascam 4 track but by the time I decided to copy it to a CD the master tape was streached and unable to mix so a couple
of years ago I re did the song using midi as well as my guitar and keyboard. Alas! it still turned out crap. My ratings: backing track I give it a 4, vocals
suck, overall: 3/10
VERSE - Times are
a changing, Bobby Dillon was right we are all learning, morning till night so give me one hour, explain to you why just
one my hour, I could take you so high
Maybe one DayCOMPOSING TOOLS: ISIS - TASCAM
- PEVEY Pro 2 - keyboard - guitar.... My ratings: backing track I would give a 3, again the vocals suck, overall rating:
3 out of 10
MAYBE ONE DAY, I WILL GO AWAY TAKE
A TRIP SO FAR, THAT I WILL WANT TO STAY TAKE A TRIP TO A WESTERN SHORE AND WALK ALONG THE SAND TASTE THE WINE FROM
AN IRISH CUP AND HOLD IT IN MY HAND
Say GoodbyeCOMPOSING
TOOLS: PEVEY Pro 2 - keyboard - guitar. Say goodbye was recorded originally on a Tascam 4 track and about two years ago was
resurected and burnt to a CD, sorry about the stretchy tape. The lyrics? they were written back when flower power was on
most muso's mind, I personally have changed my ways since then and guess what, I have trouble now finding two words that ryme
let alone write a verse of lyrics. The good thing out of all, clear lungs I guess. Could be dementure? My ratings: I give the
backing track a 2, overall also a 2
Verse 1: Say goodbye, set your mind at ease Close your eyes and think of what
will be A place in the sun, by the sea, you and me Verse 2: Climb
aboard, then I'll know for sure Lock the doors like we've always done before But this time we'll know, know for sure,
forever more Chorus: Look to the sky there's that star
out there the one that we share Close your eyes and we're almost there Say goodbye and it's ours to share
My Little GirlWritten around 1984 for my only daughter, Narelle,
she was around the age of ten I think, we were seperated back then and I never saw much of her for four years, marrage breakdown.
The lyrics came to me as if I was writing a shopping list, straight off the cuff. Well to cut a long story short my daughter
is now 35 and has kids of her own and after all those years she is still my little girl and I love her oh so much. My ratings: backing track I would give a 2, again the
vocals suck, overall rating: 3 out of 10
Verse: I remember it well
when you came into our life A bouncing little girl all sugar and spice We took you home and started your new life Gave
you all our love and made you just right As time went by I watched you grow And told you all those things I thought
you should know I brushed your hair and tucked you into bed And read you all those stories like old Ginger Megs
When my Time ComesMidi generated...COMPOSING
TOOLS: ISIS - MIDI - ALESIS SR-16 - ROLAND SC-D70 - TASCAM - PEVEY Lyrics are about dreams that happen
at that time in my life, wouldn't it be good if our dreams came true.
My ratings: backing track I would give a 5, again the vocals suck, overall
rating: 3 out of 10
